SUBWAY has announced that it will slice all of its meats in-store from now on starting today.

The sandwich chain was one of the few of its kind to pre-slice its meat before it got to the restaurant.

Now, each location will have employees carving all meats fresh on deli slicers.

Subway first spoke of its intention to freshly slice meat earlier this year, and it is one of many changes it has recently implemented.

“Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches," said Trevor Haynes, President, North America at Subway

“This year’s changes are even bigger and more transformational. The addition of freshly sliced meats is the most impactful yet as it gives our guests a better sandwich," he continued.

Subway had been working on implementing deli slicing at all locations for two years, according to a press release.

The company spent $80million buying new deli slicers and distributing them for free to 20,000 franchises across the country.

Subway will also release a new line of sandwiches accentuating the new, authentic deli vibe the slicers bring.

MORE NEW ADDITIONS

While Subway is leaning into the past, another chain is trying to take deliveries into the future.

Domino's new Pinpoint Delivery feature lets customers drop a pin on a map to get their delivery in almost any public place.

Rather than having to submit an address, orderers will be able to get their deliveries in non-traditional and public places like parks and beaches.

"Domino's is proud to be the first quick-service restaurant brand in the U.S. to deliver food to customers with the drop of a pin," said Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino's senior vice president – chief digital officer.

Customers must first download Domino's app to use Pinpoint Delivery.

After confirming their order, they can drop a pin - a cartoon pizza slice - at a location near them that is within their closest store's delivery zone.

After the customer pays and places their order, they agree to meet where the pizza pin was placed.

While most public areas are available, not all are.

Domino's will prompt the orderer to find another nearby location if their first choice isn't available

The Pinpoint Delivery is now available on the Domino's app.

Both Chick-fil-A and McDonald's are also making major changes.
